Why Depth Modules Matter
The ocean in Subnautica 2 is massive and deep. Without depth upgrades, your Seamoth and Prawn Suit will be crushed — and so will your diving suit at extreme depths.
Suit Depth Upgrades (Diving)
| Upgrade | Depth | Crafted At | Materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Tank | 45m | Lifepod Fabricator | (default) |
| High Capacity Tank | 75m | Fabricator | Titanium ×4, Glass ×2 |
| Ultra High Capacity | 125m | Modification Station | Titanium ×4, Glass ×2, Lithium ×1 |
| Depth Module Mk.1 | 300m (suit) | Modification Station | Plasteel Ingot ×1, Enameled Glass ×1 |
| Depth Module Mk.2 | 500m (suit) | Modification Station | Plasteel Ingot ×2, Kyanite ×1 |
Seamoth Depth Upgrades
Seamoth upgrades are installed in the vehicle upgrade console (built inside Vehicle Bay):
| Upgrade | Depth | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| Seamoth Depth Mk.1 | 300m | Plasteel Ingot ×1, Enameled Glass ×1 |
| Seamoth Depth Mk.2 | 500m | Plasteel Ingot ×2, Kyanite ×1 |
| Seamoth Depth Mk.3 | 900m | Plasteel Ingot ×3, Kyanite ×2 |
Getting Plasteel Ingots
Plasteel = 2× Titanium Ingot + 2× Lithium. Lithium is found in the Underwater Islands and Mountains biomes at 200–350m.
Getting Kyanite
Kyanite is a blue-purple crystal found only in the Inactive Lava Zone (700m+). You'll need a Depth Mk.2 upgrade to reach it — plan accordingly.
