Every recipe from the Fabricator, Modification Station, and Vehicle Bay. Updated for Early Access 2026.
How Crafting Works in Subnautica 2
Subnautica 2 uses three main crafting stations, each unlocked at different points in the game. Understanding which station makes what — and how to unlock each one — is essential for smooth progression.
The Fabricator is your starting point. You have one from the moment you land. It handles everything from food and water to basic tools, raw material processing, and intermediate components like Wiring Kits and Computer Chips. The majority of your early game runs through the Fabricator.
The Modification Station comes later, unlocked via fragments in deeper wrecks. This is where your gear gets serious — O2 tank upgrades, Depth Modules Mk.1 through Mk.3, and advanced tools like the Sonic Resonator and Feedback Resonator that gate story progress. You cannot build a Modification Station until you have the blueprint and the right materials including Diamond and Lithium.
The Vehicle Bay is a large base module that lets you build and upgrade the Seamoth and Prawn Suit. It requires three blueprint fragments found in 200m+ wrecks. The vehicles it produces are the main way you push into the lategame — without them, depth progression stalls.
Station Unlock Priority
Available from start in lifepod
Fragments in wrecks at 150m+. Needs Diamond + Lithium to build.
3 fragments in wrecks at 200m+. Needs Titanium Ingots + Power Cell.
Tip: Build a second Fabricator in your base as soon as possible. The lifepod one requires swimming back constantly. A base Fabricator next to your storage lockers cuts crafting time dramatically.
