◈ Quick Tip
Silver nodes often appear alongside gold and copper. The Grassy Plateaus caves are especially rich — look for grey-white outcroppings. Bring a Scanner to highlight them.

About Silver Ore in Subnautica 2
Silver Ore is one of the first resources new players search for in Subnautica 2. It unlocks the Wiring Kit, which is a mandatory component in almost every mid-game recipe — Habitat Builders, Computer Chips, Beacons, and the Bioscanner all need it. The frustration comes from the fact that silver looks similar to other grey-white rock outcroppings at a glance, and its spawn density in the open ocean is genuinely lower than copper or titanium.
How to Farm Silver Ore Efficiently
The best silver farming strategy is to target cave entrances inside the Grassy Plateaus biome between 50–150m depth. These cave systems concentrate silver, copper, and occasional gold in the same area, making a single cave sweep highly efficient. Bring a Seaglide — manual swimming in cave systems wastes too much oxygen. One sweep of a mid-size Grassy Plateaus cave typically yields 6–10 silver ore.
Advanced Notes
If you've exhausted the Grassy Plateaus caves, the Limestone Plateau at 80–150m has visible silver veins on open rock faces. These are easier to spot from a Seamoth than on foot. In later game, the crash zone debris fields occasionally contain sealed storage containers with silver ore inside — the Propulsion Cannon opens these quickly.
