Necrolei Cyst
rareorganicA toxic biological cyst harvested from the Necrolei creature. Used in advanced bio-engineering recipes.
Where to Find
- ▸Harvested from living or deceased Necrolei
- ▸Necrolei territory in deep biomes
- ▸Occasionally found near Necrolei nesting sites

◈ Quick Tip
Approach Necrolei carefully — they are territorial. Use the Bioscanner to identify cyst nodes before harvesting. A Repulsion Cannon helps create distance if attacked.

About Necrolei Cyst in Subnautica 2
The Necrolei Cyst is one of the most-searched items in Subnautica 2 because it sits at a demanding intersection: it requires a dangerous creature encounter at significant depth, using a tool (Bioscanner) you may not have yet, to produce a material (Strong Acid) that itself unlocks further crafting. Players who try to brute-force the encounter without preparation usually die repeatedly.
How to Farm Necrolei Cyst Efficiently
Preparation matters more than luck here. Before attempting a Necrolei Cyst run, have a Depth Module Mk.1 (300m minimum) and ideally Mk.2 (500m), a fully charged Bioscanner, and either a Seamoth for escape or a solid Repulsion Cannon for emergency distance. The Necrolei's aggro range is roughly 15 meters when undisturbed — the Bioscanner lets you identify cyst nodes from 25m, giving you a safe observation window.
Advanced Notes
Target multiple Necrolei across different territory zones rather than farming the same one repeatedly — creature drops reset slowly. The Deep Grand Reef has the highest Necrolei density at 300–450m. Once you have consistent access with a Seamoth Depth Mk.2, a well-planned run yields 4–6 cysts per dive.
